Port of Gdansk closes 2016 with
in the use of land transport
Last year, the Gdansk port handled
of nearly half
trucks and almost 240,000 railway wagons. In comparison to 2015, it was
of 43% in the case of trucks, and of 24% in terms of the intensity of rail traffic. This data regarding land transport traffic are the best result ever for the Port of Gdansk.
In connection with the open letter of the employees of Port Gdanski Eksploatacja Spolka Akcyjna with its registered office in Gdansk (further referred to as PGE), trade unions representing the employees of PGE and the Employee Council of PGE of January 31, 2017, and taking into account the public's right to reliable information, Port of Gdansk
makes the following statement.

enhancement project, i.e. improvement of the appearance of the areas around the entrance to the port.
presentation of the investment planned by the PGA was organised on 16 February 2017 at the Port Master's Office at Gdansk's Port Polnocny. The results of the project should please not just the port's stakeholders, but also Gdansk's inhabitants and tourists.
The number of modernised warehouses and buildings is increasing
Thanks to the project involving thorough modernisation of the administration building on the Oliwskie Quay completed

space intended for offices for the port's stakeholders.
New improvements for heavy vehicle traffic at the Port of Gdansk
For some time now, the DCT container terminal at the Port of Gdansk has been carrying out intensive work on improving the flow of heavy vehicle traffic within the terminal. For this purpose, in May 2016, it began informational meetings with shipping companies and freight forwarders, during which future users of the e.Brama system had the chance to find out what is involved in the advice note process and what its principles are.
Another delivery of Iranian oil for
In the early hours of the morning on 23 January, the Vilamoura tanker brought 130,000 tonnes of Iranian oil for
refinery to Gdansk. The ship set off from the Iranian export terminal on Kharg Island in late December and made its way to the Port of Gdansk, crossing the Red Sea and the Suez Canal.
The network of connections has been enriched
Not too long ago, in August 2016, the Port of Gdansk gained an unusual shipping connection with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, the beginning of 2017 brought another important event for the port -
general cargo service connection with the United States operated by Spliethoff,
shipping company specialising in the transport of general cargo, but also project cargo and heavy lifts.
More than 37 million tonnes of cargo at the Port of Gdansk.
The past year was long heralded as
one for the Port of Gdansk, both in terms of the predicted transshipments and the investments carried out here, as well as on account of the fact that Gdansk moved up in the ranking of the largest seaports on the Baltic Sea. All of these forecasts were realised and today we can say with certainty that the Polish port has reached
taking sixth position in the Baltic Sea in terms of overall transshipment volumes for the first time.
