A unique programme supporting startups from the sea transport sector will be launched in 2017. On 25 November 2016, the Port of Gdansk Authority SA along with the Gdansk Economic Development Agency and the Gdansk Business Incubator, STARTER, will sign a trilateral agreement initiating activities aimed at establishing a Maritime Incubator. The undertaking will aim to support new companies, mainly from the broadly-defined maritime sector and the ports and logistics sector.

Companies taking part in the incubation will receive mentoring support tailored to their needs. Moreover, participants will gain access to dedicated space from the Maritime Incubator in Gdansk, where young companies will be free to use offices and co-working space.

On Friday, 25 November, the official inauguration of the work on the concept of establishing the incubator for companies from the ports and logistics sector will begin. Ultimately, this will be the first Polish acceleration programme developed solely for projects from the rapidly developing maritime industry. On this occasion, on 23-25 November, the Maritime Startup event will be held, in which startups dealing with solutions from the maritime industry and the ports and logistics sector will take part. They will participate in workshops, concluding with the presentation of their projects. Mare Straetmans - Managing Director of the PortXL accelerator from Rotterdam, the largest European programme implementing port-related solutions, will be the special guest at the event. Mare Straetmans will visit Poland in order to check Poland's startup potential.

The Maritime Startup event will be crowned by an official inauguration of the work, combined with the presentation of the Maritime Incubator concept, taking place on 25 November at 1:00 p.m. at the Gdansk Business Incubator, STARTER. Admission is free.

STARTER is recruiting young companies which would like to present their project during the event. Applications can be submitted online at www.maritimestartup.pl until 18 November 2016.
