Ozone-depleting substances

PGA SA shall not provide the reception of waste containing ozone-depleting substances. The entity providing repairs, replacement, assembly or dismantling of on-board equipment and installations containing controlled substances listed in Appendix I to Regulation (EC) No. 1005/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 September 2009 on substances that deplete the ozone layer (Official Journal of the European Union L 286 of 31.10.2009; p.1) shall provide the reception of waste generated during the work performed.


Information regarding the procedure for reception of waste and cargo residues from vessels

Information regarding the procedure for reception of waste and cargo residues from vessels is available at the Port of Gdansk's website (www.portgdansk.pl).
All entities involved in the procedure of reception of waste from vessels (ships' masters, agents, recipients of waste and other parties involved) may obtain all information and report comments or inadequacies of port reception facilities by contacting the competent PGA SA services:

Procedures for reporting alleged inadequacies of port reception facilities

If the master of a ship, on entering the Port of Gdansk, finds any inadequacies of port reception facilities or if the Port of Gdansk Authority SA fails to inform the fact to the master of a ship, the master has the right to report the inadequacies to the Director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia using FORMAT 4 (a revised, consolidated format for reporting alleged inadeqacies of port reception facilities) available at the PGA SA website, or directly on the website of the Maritime Office in Gdynia.

Information on the insufficient capacity of reception facilities

If no sufficient means are available for the reception of specific type and quantity of vessel-generated waste by port reception facilities, the master or agent of the ship will be informed about the fact by the Port Dispatcher immediately upon giving notification of intended waste discharge. At the same time, the nearest harbour or seaport will be indicated that is well-prepared for reception of vessel-generated waste and cargo residues.


Information regarding ballast water

Owing to the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and Sediments (2004 BMW Convention) expected to become effective in the next few years, the master or agent of the ship is kindly requested to fill out the ballast water reporting form.
