Notification of ships' calls via the Internet at the Port of Gdansk
What purpose do the DYSPORT information system serve?
It was the intension of the initiator and the designers of the "DYSPORT" Information System to develop a central computerized database covering the information about the ships calling at the port - including the key information concerning the provided services (cargo handling, maneuvering) and the specification of the handled cargo. A wide range of this sort of information requires close co-operation of the port's key business partners - for instance:
- Shipping agents (ships' notification, hazardous cargo - import, details regarding members of the crew and the passengers, etc.)
- Port Master's Office (calling and out-bound ships)
- Port dispatchers and shippers (level of ships' servicing)
- Customs Office (notification of ships for the purpose of customs clearance)
- Forwarding agents (reporting of hazardous cargo in export)
- Border guards (notified ships, a list of the crew members and the passengers, status of the ship's servicing)
Each of the companies and institutions mentioned above is running
a register of ships calling at the Port of Gdansk. The "DYSPORT"
system - supplied by the users - can be applied to service their needs
and requirements (the principle of mutual benefit) in compliance with
the granted access authorization.
Supplying of the DYSPORT information system via the Internet
The system facilitates the information-based following the track of ships and the related activities starting from the notification and entering a road - until leaving the port. Additionally, the archive data will be available that enable reconstitution of the condition at the port on a particular day. It is a notification that comprises the first information preceding the ship's coming to the port. The system makes it possible to register the ship's notification by means of various information technologies, of which the Internet browser proved to be the easiest to use. With its use, special forms are filled in - based on the contents of the database of the central dispatching system covering the data concerning each of the ships that has ever called at the port and the Lloyd's database (LRS).
The notification of the ships' calls via the Internet by the agents and forwarding agents automatically supplies the dispatching database that can be used by all the parties involved: Harbour Master's Office, Border Guards, Customs Office, Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, etc.
