Over the previous month, the Port of Gdansk saw the arrival of four deepsea container ships, each over 330 metres long.

On 4 January 2010, "Maersk Taikung", the biggest container vessel in the port's history, arrived in Gdansk, launching a direct connection with the Port of Shanghai.
On 27 November 2009, representatives of the Chinese Port of Ningbo visited the Gdansk port.
