Quays for passenger ships

Each year, the Port of Gdańsk hosts several dozen passenger ships, some of which visit many times during the season. Thousands of passengers line their decks, waiting to visit the most interesting places in Pomerania. The first attraction for tourists is the entry of the ship and mooring at one of the quays: the Obrońców Westerplatte and WOC II quays, which are located at the port entrance.

The Obrońców Westerplatte Quay – an attractive place due to its location and history. Within five minutes, passengers can reach one of the most valuable monuments in Gdańsk – the Wisłoujście Fortress and the Monument to the Defenders of Westerplatte, located several hundred metres from the quay. On 1 September 1939, World War II began with an attack on Westerplatte by the battleship Schleswig-Holstein. Passenger ships moor right at the foot of the monumental Monument to the Defenders of Westerplatte, erected in memory of those events.

There is also a marina nearby, where ships dock to offer cruises to the Old Town, the very heart of Gdańsk. The Obrońców Westerplatte Quay is also well connected to the national and international network of roads. Therefore, it is possible to easily and quickly reach the centre of Gdańsk and other famous tourist destinations, such as Malbork or Warsaw.

WOC II Quay – established in the immediate vicinity of the Cpt. Ziółkowski Quay, only 15 minutes by ship after passing the port “heads”. This is a considerable advantage, especially for tourists and tour operators who have visitors wanting to spend as much time as possible on sightseeing. It is recommended for excursion programs aimed at visiting the centre of Gdańsk and its northern surroundings.

Passenger transport from the quay

We care about the quality of tourist service, which is why we have introduced amenities for people arriving by passenger ship. Each of the quays offers transport licensed by Port of Gdańsk Authority S.A. You can use taxis that guarantee a fixed price list of services, depending on the chosen destination. This solution provides full flexibility in spending time in Gdańsk and in arranging the stay according to one’s own schedule. It is also about the safety and stability of prices for transport within and outside the city.

There are price lists for transport services at the quays, thanks to which you can accurately determine the cost of travel to various selected locations.

Pricing policy

Passenger ships calling at the Port of Gdańsk may count on considerable discounts in the scope of port fees.

The maximum basis for calculating port fees for passenger ships calling at the Port of Gdańsk is based on the ship’s capacity and is 60,000 GT. Vessels whose gross tonnage exceeds this value make payments at 60,000 GT.

Ships that call to Gdańsk more than once in a given calendar year can receive additional benefits. Vessels mooring at the Port of Gdańsk for the second or third time automatically receive an additional discount on the tonnage fee. In the case of the fourth and fifth call, the discount increases up to maximum at each subsequent call in a given calendar year.

The Port of Gdańsk in cruise organisations

Our goal is to provide the highest quality in ship service and passenger traffic in the port and to meet the expectations of tourists and tour operators alike. For many years we have been actively engaged in the activities of international organisations which focus on the cruise industry issues.

One of such organizations is Cruise Europe, associating more than 130 European ports from four regions of the continent: Iceland and Norway, the Baltic Sea, Great Britain and Ireland, and the west coast of Europe. ZMPG S.A. has been its member since 2003.

Since 2011 we have also been a member of Cruise Baltic, which brings together 28 ports and cities from ten countries of the Baltic Sea Basin. The organisation promotes the attractions, beauty and tourist values of the Baltic Sea region among tourists, shipowners and tour operators.
