The Port of Gdańsk supports the safety of residents in Nowy Port – it has funded the purchase of a police car for Police Station No. VI
The Port of Gdańsk Authority S.A. has provided funding to help purchase a new police car for the Gdańsk Municipal Police Headquarters. The donation, amounting to PLN 270,000, was used to purchase a marked Skoda Kodiaq SUV, together with the necessary equipment.
This is an example of effective partnership between the public sector, community organisations and the business sector towards a common goal – to improve safety in Gdańsk.
A safer Nowy Port
The funds were donated to the police via the ‘Żyć Bezpiecznie’ Foundation, with which the Port of Gdańsk has signed a partnership agreement. The purpose of the initiative is to support the work of the services responsible for the safety of residents and users of the port area and also its surroundings.
A new police car has also joined the fleet of the Gdańsk Municipal Police Headquarters. It is a Škoda Kodiaq II Sportline 2.0. The official handover took place during the city’s Police Day celebrations, held on 24 July in front of Artus Court. The car has been assigned to Police Station No. VI in Nowy Port. This station is responsible for the area directly adjacent to the port area, which means that its operational efficiency is crucial for the safety of both the local community and the functioning of critical infrastructure.
‘Safety is the foundation for the smooth operation of the port and its surrounding area. As one of the most important parts of critical infrastructure, we are aware of our responsibility not only for economic development, but also for supporting local services. This police car provides tangible support for the police officers who work every day to ensure the safety of residents and employees in the port areas’, says Alan Aleksandrowicz, Vice-President for Finance and Security at the Port of Gdańsk.
The purchase of this modern police car should make patrols and emergency responses more effective, particularly under challenging conditions. Better equipment for the police means a higher level of safety for residents of the port districts.
‘Police Station No. VI employs 42 officers, including the commanders. We also have quite a few brave female police officers, particularly in the investigations and criminal investigation division’, says Inspector Joanna Dajnowska, Deputy Commander of Police Station No. VI in Kasztanowa Street in Nowy Port.
Support for the uniformed services is one of the elements of corporate social responsibility implemented by the Port of Gdańsk Authority S.A. The company is consistently involved in initiatives for the benefit of the local community, emphasising the importance of safety as the foundation for the region’s stable development.
