Port of Gdańsk sets a record in container cargo handling in three quarters of 2025

With each quarter, the Port of Gdańsk continues to strengthen its position on the international logistics scene. Its consistent development strategy, diversification of activities and investments in infrastructure yield tangible results. Stable liquid fuel handling and record results in the containerised general cargo segment show that the Port of Gdańsk has become a key hub for the Central and Eastern European region.

During the first three quarters of this year, over 59 million tonnes of goods were handled at the Port of Gdańsk, an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year, when slightly over 58 million tonnes were handled. A significant increase was recorded in the containerised general cargo segment – over 2 million TEUs handled, an increase of 21.7% compared to last year (15.5%, taking into account their total tonnage). Increases were also recorded in ore cargo handling (+174%) and in other bulk cargo (+8.3%). The liquid fuels segment remains a stable pillar of the port’s activity and, despite a slight decline (-2.4%), accounts for approximately 50% of the total volume handled at the port.

In the analysed period, 2,667 commercial vessels called at the Port of Gdańsk – almost the same number as in the previous year, but with a higher tonnage.

The financial results after three quarters are also good – the net profit amounted to PLN 285.6 million. In accordance with the Act on Seaports and Marinas, these funds are allocated, for example, to the further development of port infrastructure, which includes the upgrade of quays, the expansion of terminals and the road and rail system, as well as investments in solutions that increase the safety and efficiency of operations.

The results achieved in the first three quarters of 2025 are proof of the effectiveness of the adopted course of action and the commitment of the Port of Gdańsk Authority and its business partners to achieving common goals. This is a solid foundation for the further development of the Port of Gdańsk and the strengthening of its role in the maritime economy of the region.
