Growing numbers of passenger cars at the Port of Gdansk
On 9 October this year, with the view to meeting their client's needs, the shipowner Euro Marine Carrier provided an extra vessel "City of Lutece" at the Port of Gdansk in addition to the currently operating car carriers "City of Sunderland", "City of Barcelona" and "City of Amsterdam". The car carrier "City of Lutece" is a 118.05-metre long and 18.30-metre wide vessel with BRT 8238, NRT 4743 and a loading capacity of 750 cars on board her 6 decks. The carrier discharged 700 Nissan Almera Classic cars in the Port Free Zone, destined for the Russian and Ukrainian markets.
Apart from Euro Marine Carrier, the Port of Gdansk provides services to car carriers under regular shipping lines operated by shipowners such as "K" Line Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd, Hoegh Autoliners AS and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics AB. From the beginning of 2007 to the end of September, the Gdansk port handled 106,622 cars (mainly Nissan, Toyota, Chevrolet, Volkswagen).
